Requirement 4.4: The institution demonstrates that program length is appropriate for each of the degrees offered.

Full Compliance

The University System of Georgia has specified criteria for degree requirements at all levels in its Academic Affairs Handbook (which refers to pertinent parts of the Board of Regents Policy Manual), including 120 hours for the baccalaureate degree and 36 hours for master’s/education specialist degrees. Any additional degree hours for the master’s/education specialist degrees and degree hours for doctoral degrees must be approved by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs using approved Board of Regents procedures and documentation. Many of the University’s degree programs receive special accreditation by accrediting bodies within the discipline. For a list of accrediting bodies, see 2004-2005 Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog, “Accreditation” (p. 9).
