Full Compliance

In accordance with the University’s Mission Statement, “ Georgia Southern’s nationally accredited academic programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional studies prepare a diverse and select undergraduate and graduate student population for leadership and service as world citizens.” Furthermore, “Georgia Southern University is committed to advancing the State of Georgia and the region through the benefits of higher education, offering baccalaureate through doctoral degrees and a variety of outreach programs.”1 During FY 2003, the University awarded 2,339 degrees (1,864 bachelor’s degrees, 401 master’s degrees, 51 education specialist degrees, and 23 doctorates) in 117 majors.2 Although many Georgia Southern graduates enter international and national workplaces, a large number assume positions in the regional and local economy, enhancing the business, educational, and professional life of south Georgia.

As shown in the University’s List of Majors and Degree Programs, Georgia Southern offers in excess of 100 academic programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional studies. The University’s teacher preparation programs, construction management and technology programs, business programs, and its programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences (e.g., nursing, health services administration, nutrition and food services, hotel management) are heavily geared toward preparing students for professional careers.
