Requirement Number 2.7.1: The institution offers one or more degree programs based on at least 60 semester credit hours or the equivalent at the associate level; at least 120 semester credit hours or the equivalent at the baccalaureate level; or at least 30 semester credit hours or the equivalent at the post-baccalaureate, graduate, or professional level. The institution provides a written justification and rationale for program equivalency.

The University System of Georgia has specified criteria for degree requirements at all levels in its Academic Affairs Handbook (which refers to pertinent sections of the Board of Regents Policy Manual), including 60 hours for Associate degrees, 120 hours for baccalaureate degrees, and 36 hours for Master’s/Education Specialist degrees. Any additional degree hours for the above and degree hours for Doctoral degrees must be approved by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs using approved BOR procedures and documentation. The University System standards match or exceed the requirements of this Core Requirement.
