Standard Number 3.2.10: The institution evaluates the effectiveness of its administrators, including the chief executive officer, on a periodic basis.Full Compliance As stipulated in the Board of Regents Policy Manual (§ 803.07), “senior administrators shall be evaluated by the administrator's supervisor, using a performance management instrument which emphasizes leadership qualities, management style, planning and organizing capacities, effective communication skills, accountability for diversity efforts and results, and success at meeting goals and objectives.” It further states that senior administrators are evaluated by their subordinates at least once every five years and evaluation results will inform the senior administrator's development plan. Following these guidelines, Georgia Southern has developed its evaluation procedure for senior administrators and publishes it in the Faculty Handbook (§ 107.03). As described in this policy, senior administrators are subject to annual performance appraisals as well as in-depth performance reviews and evaluations every fourth year. Conforming to the established Board guidelines, the reviews seek input from subordinates and peers. The written summaries of these evaluations are maintained on file in the respective offices of the administrators' supervisors. Consistent with the senior administrators' evaluation policy as set forth in the Board of Regents Policy Manual (§ 803.07), the President of the University is subject to annual performance review by his superior (the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia). |
